THE WALNUT HILL COMMUNITY FARM

Rainwater catchment/irrigation system for greenhouse & shed

A 12’x24’ greenhouse will be built on our site this spring. Because of its small size, there are many options to experiment with greenhouse technologies. There are no known utility connections on the site, and interest in creating a solarpowered greenhouse is strong. We would like to capture rainwater off of this structure and reuse it for operations inside the greenhouse.Rainwater is currently collected off our tool shed and funneled into a series of holding bins for the community members to use for their rented plot spaces. Rainwater is collected in the bins and members fill watering cans to water their plots. This system is very rudimentary and could be redesigned to catch water more efficiently
